Our joint practice offers a comprehensive range of examinations, treatments and therapies. We are able to treat most cases conclusively. Should further clarification be required, we refer our patients to suitable specialists. We guarantee seamless care at all times - including during the holiday season. We are committed to a digital and sustainable approach, with a focus on continuous improvement in our processes. We prioritise empathetic and friendly care, whether in person at our practice, by telephone, by email or via video call.
Health Check-ups
Regular preventive medical examinations, known as health check-ups, are recommended from the age of 50, or earlier depending on risk factors. We determine the individual examinations (lab tests, ECG, X-ray, etc.) in a personal consultation, taking into account the patient's family medical history. Our recommendations are based on the applicable scientific guidelines.
Family medicine
We often accompany our patients over many years. This creates a relationship of trust that allows for a holistic medical approach rather than focusing solely on acute symptoms. Our practice is affiliated with the cantonal Schwyz Family Doctors Association and is therefore committed to promoting family doctor models – saving on premiums and enjoying optimal treatment quality.
House calls
Sometimes our patients are too weak to leave home or are unable to do so for other reasons. We are still here to help. If necessary, we visit patients at home or in nursing homes. We discuss their concerns, provide assistance, and take the necessary next steps.
Laboratory Analysis
In our practice lab, we analyse a wide range of samples, including blood, urine, stool and smear samples, efficiently and competently. Thanks to the seamless integration of the sophisticated laboratory equipment and practice software, results are sometimes available within minutes. If desired, results can be accessed in real time via an app. The doctor can then discuss the results of drug therapy or other treatment options with the patient.
Digital X-rays
We use a digital X-ray machine in our practice. This enables fast and efficient diagnostics and reduces radiation exposure to a minimum. X-rays were discovered at the end of the 19th century by German physicist Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen – by chance. His discovery revolutionised medicine. Today, we know X-rays as a reliable method for diagnosing broken bones or pneumonia.
Resting ECG
The heart is a pump controlled by electrical impulses. These impulses flow in a precise direction and at a given rhythm. Deviations from this can reveal a lot about the health of the heart and, in some situations, can even save lives. The electrical recording of the heart's electrical activity is called an electrocardiogram (ECG) or cardiac voltage curve. If the patient is lying down during the test, it is referred to as a ‘resting ECG’.
Pulmonary Function Testing
When breathing is no longer flowing freely, this usually has a major impact on health and well-being. Spirometry or pulmonary function testing is the most common method of measuring lung function and can be used to diagnose various respiratory diseases. The most common include asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Pulmonary function testing can be performed quickly and painlessly. It measures the amount of air inhaled and the airflow, i.e. the strength of the respiratory flow when exhaling. The results indicate whether the airways are constricted or obstructed.
24-Hour Ambulatory Blood Pressure Monitoring
Blood pressure can vary depending on the time of day and physical activity. If blood pressure rises sharply due to nervousness in the doctor's office, this is referred to as “white coat effect”. In case of uncertainty and before starting medication, it is advisable to perform a 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring. To do this, patients wear a cuff and a small measuring device for a whole day and night. This automatically measures blood pressure at defined intervals. It is important not to take it easy and to go about your normal daily routine. We discuss the results and further steps during a detailed consultation.
Sleep Medicine
Snoring and breathing interruptions have a major impact on sleep quality and the quality of life in general. Affected patients do not feel rested and refreshed even after sufficiently long periods of sleep. Nocturnal pulse oximetry can be used to determine the level of oxygen saturation in the blood and whether there are any irregularities in breathing. Nocturnal pulse oximetry is painless and can be carried out comfortably at home following the instructions provided. Depending on the results, we refer our patients to a specialist sleep medicine practice.
Medication - Dispensing and Instructions
We have an in-house pharmacy and can dispense medication directly to our patients. We place great importance on providing clear instructions and demonstrating how to take the medication, or how to administer injections (e.g. insulin) if necessary. Safety is our top priority, and we work according to processes that comply with the law.
Patients on long-term medication can also order their medicines online.
Emergency Service
Our practice is affiliated with the Höfe district's emergency medical service. Outside our opening hours, patients can call 0840 81 81 81 in the event of a medical emergency. The doctor on duty in the district of Höfe will then provide care. Our team often takes over the on-call service.
Pain Treatment
The treatment of pain is as varied as the pain itself. From drug therapies and laser therapies to infiltrations, we offer a wide range of treatments in our practice. In a personal consultation and after a comprehensive medical history, we determine the course of action together. Often, a combination of different approaches is most effective. We accompany our patients on the sometimes long road to a better quality of life.
Desensitisation
Hyposensitisation is used to treat allergies. This therapy, which has been in use for over 100 years, treats the cause of the allergy. The symptoms usually diminish significantly or even disappear completely. Desensitisation is used to treat allergic symptoms associated with pollen, dust mite or animal allergies. Its aim is to slowly accustom the body to the allergens and thereby develop a tolerance that influences the immune system so that it no longer overreacts.
Wound Treatment
Abrasions, cuts or burns are serious injuries to the skin and must be treated professionally. Infections are the most common complication. If left untreated, they can threaten overall health and leave unsightly scars. Both risks can be reduced with proper wound care. We provide initial wound care (disinfection, wound closure, etc.) and also take care of follow-up care, including changing dressings.
Iron, Vitamin and Infusion of Medications
Serious illnesses, operations and, in many cases, childbirth can lead to a syndrome of exhaustion caused by iron and/or vitamin deficiency. Depending on our patients' blood values and condition, we treat the deficiency in the traditional way with tablets or drops. If rapid and more efficient administration is necessary, we supply the body with the missing substances via infusion.
Orthoses and Compression Stockings
Orthoses or braces and compression stockings are medical aids used to support, immobilise or relieve pressure on a part of the body. They are used for broken bones, torn ligaments or sprains. We use compression stockings for various diseases of the venous system and as thrombosis prophylaxis. We carefully show our patients how they can use these aids in everyday life.
Minor Surgical Procedures
Many dermatological procedures can be performed in our general practice. We are equipped and have the necessary expertise – from local anaesthesia to the dexterity required for such procedures. Our medical practice assistants are also trained to provide competent assistance. We enjoy performing minor surgery and are happy to offer this service to our patients.
Vaccinations
Vaccinations are one of the greatest achievements of modern medicine. Dangerous and potentially fatal diseases such as smallpox (Variola Vera) have been eradicated thanks to appropriate vaccination. The Swiss vaccination schedule is updated every year and can be found on the website of the Federal Office of Public Health.
Travel Medicine Support
Good medical preparation is essential to ensure that ‘travel fever’ is not followed by serious illness. This includes vaccinations and a well-stocked first-aid kit. Some airlines even require proof of the necessary vaccinations when boarding the plane. In a detailed consultation, we advise our patients on the recommended measures so that nothing stands in the way of a wonderful stay abroad.
Medical and Psychological Counselling
Questions, doubts, fears – sometimes our mental balance is shaken and the routine of everyday life weighs heavily on us. We take time for our patients. In many cases, a conversation with the medical examiner brings a solution, opens up new perspectives and eliminates troubling thoughts.
Medical Driving Aptitude Test Levels 1 and 2
Anyone who drives a motor vehicle must be physically, mentally and characteristically fit to do so. A distinction is made between two categories: Level 1: Private vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. Level 2: Lorries, taxis, buses and traffic experts. Since 1 January 2019, the Level 1 examination must be carried out every two years from the age of 75. The summons is issued by the cantonal traffic office. In our practice, we carry out medical driving aptitude examinations for both categories.
Diving Fitness Examination
Diving is an exciting and complex sport that involves medical risks. Therefore, fitness for diving must be ensured. We carry out diving examinations in accordance with the guidelines of the SGUHM/SUHMS (Swiss Underwater and Hyperbaric Medical Society) and provide a medical certificate as proof.
Firefighter Medical Examination
Firefighters are on call day and night to help people in danger. They are often exposed to various toxic substances during their operations, such as smoke clouds or vapours containing toxic chemicals. The fitness of prospective firefighters is determined after a thorough examination by means of a medical certificate.
Living Wills
A living will or advance healthcare directives specifies the medical treatments you want or don't want in an emergency. It helps to ensure that your wishes are respected and relieves the burden on your relatives. Our medical practice offers professional advice on creating a living will.
